A British Columbia native having studied in Canada and France, Jean-Paul David has over 20 years experience in marketing, finance and international business development. He is the founder and president of Mercadex International Inc., an international business consulting firm contributing to the growth of its client firms in international markets.
Jean-Paul David has an MBA in marketing and international management from HEC Montréal (jointly from l'École de Management de Lyon) and a BAA from l'Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Other than his principal responsibilities at Medrcadex, he was a lecturer at HEC Montréal in international business from 1998 to 2007 and currently teaches internationalization strategies in the post-MBA program at l’Université de Sherbrooke. Mr. David also sits on the executive board of several firms in the private sector, was President of the Mexico-Canada Chamber of Commerce and was president and founder of the Quebec Money Market Association. Jean-Paul David speaks French, English and Spanish fluently and is the author of many works concerning international business, most notably of which, « Comment développer les marchés internationaux », recently published by Éditions Transcontinental (nominated for the Quebec Best Business Book Prize 2008). |

André Lacombe has over 20 years experience in marketing and international business. He has worked in marketing and sales for consumer products, industrial products and services. Before joining Mercadex, Mr. Lacombe had consulted for and coached firms through their business development and along the life cycles of their products and services. At Mercadex, André Lacombe holds the position of Director of international projects, in particular managing research and analysis activities for foreign markets and consulting clients in the planning of their international projects. In addition, Mr. Lacombe, on a regular basis, leads workshops and training sessions related to international business. André Lacombe has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from HEC Montréal as well as a graduate certificate in international trade from McGill University. He was the editor of « Segments », a Montreal Marketing Association publication, from 1997 to 1999. Speaking both English and French fluently, Mr. Lacombe is known for his rigour and professionalism, guaranteeing a high level of quality for Mercadex’s clients. |
Chief Analyst, International Projects

Mr. Cariou joined the Mercadex team in 2006 as an international markets analyst. He is responsible for coordinating research and analysis of markets as well as developing marketing plans for national and international contexts.
He has a Political Sciences degree from Rennes (Economic and Financial Specialty) and a MSc in management, international business option from HEC Montréal where he worked at the GRAMI (International Markets Analysis Group) in parallel for two years, during which he did market research (B2B) for firms pursuing international expansion. As well, he has done market research in the international teaching sector (HEC Montréal’s International Projects Service) and in the environment sector (HEC Montréal International Economics and Governance Chair). Guillaume Cariou speaks both English and French fluently. |

Mr. Hidalgo joined the Mercadex team in 2008 as a market analyst. He is responsible for market research and data analysis obtained through documents and interviews.
He holds a BA in International Business and Management from the Catholic University in Guayaquil, Ecuador and a MBA from Strayer University in Washington. He has over two years experience in business management, business development and sales. Mr. Hidalgo speaks English, Spanish and French. |

Mr. Vejgman joined the Mercadex team in 2008 as an international markets analyst. He is responsible for the research and analysis of international market data obtained through documents and live interviews.
He has a B.Com. with a double specialization in International Business and Finance and a graduate certificate in marketing from McGill University and is currently completing his MSc thesis in business administration (marketing specialty) from HEC Montréal. He has several years experience in sales, marketing and market research in both B2B and B2C contexts. While studying at HEC Montréal, he led market research studies on behalf of Maîtrise-Conseil. Charles Vejgman speaks both English and French fluently. |

Sylvain Tessier is an expert in marketing and strategic planning. A graduate of the University of Québec at Trois-Rivières (BAA in Marketing, 1982) and Laval University (MBA, marketing specialty, 1986), Mr. Tessier has a rich and varied experience in marketing. Throughout his career and in parallel to his professional responsibilities, he has been a marketing lecturer at UQTR and for new business incubators and business development centres. He worked eight years for the Cossette Communication Group, where he led both qualitative and quantitative market research studies, developed strategic plans, performed awareness and satisfaction studies etc. He also worked for Zins Beauchesne Secor and for his own independent consulting firm. Other than his position as Director of Research and Strategic Intelligence at Desjardins for two years, he has worked on several contracts for service and manufacturing companies. His dynamic and down-to-earth coaching style complements his ability to deliver appropriate strategic approaches based on many years of experience and his ability to effectively address complex issues.
